Requirements

  • Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Manifest V2: eddf1c58-948d-4e0e-9c42-e611e9050a97

Firefox Installation

Cyberhaven’s Firefox extension is self‑hosted. On Windows and macOS, the Endpoint Sensor can auto‑install and maintain it, or you can deploy it via MDM on macOS. See network allowlists and the XPI URL in: Browser Extensions Prerequisites.

If issues are encountered please check the Browser Extensions Troubleshooting for information on how to troubleshoot.

Firefox Installation on Windows (Sensor‑managed)

  • The Windows Endpoint Sensor automatically installs, maintains, and updates the Firefox extension.
  • Registry base key: HKLM\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\ExtensionsSettings (created during Sensor install).
  • To manage Firefox independently (outside of Sensor management), contact Cyberhaven Support to disable Sensor‑managed updates for Firefox; otherwise the Sensor will override manual policy changes to the Firefox extension.

Firefox Installation on macOS (Self‑hosted)

  • The default Cyberhaven MDM profile (Cyberhaven.mobileconfig) sets the self‑hosted XPI URL for Firefox.
  • Alternatively, edit your existing macOS MDM profile to set the new URL to the self‑hosted XPI.

Example preference entry (string value):

https://content.cyberhaven.io/browser-extensions/firefox-24.9-over/firefox-latest.xpi

For guidance on managing your MDM profile, see: MDM Profiles

After deployment, allow a few minutes for Firefox to refresh policies. Verify installation under about:addons.

Installation Verification

  • On endpoints, open about:addons and confirm the Cyberhaven extension is installed and enabled.
  • Optionally check about:policies to verify that enterprise policies are applied.
